In 1950s Iceland, brothers Baddi (Baltasar Kormákur) and Danni (Svein Geirsson) live in an abandoned American military facility, prisoners of their low social status. But the outside world intrudes into their isolated community when Baddi returns from a trip to the U.S. with Elvis Presley hair, a leather jacket and a roaring red Chevrolet. Now a celebrity, Baddi marries the girl his brother loves. It breaks Danni's heart, but drives him to escape the shantytown by becoming a pilot.
