Vishal Menon The Hollywood Reporter India Nov 11
As much about life’s most horrific incident bringing people together as it is about the same people trying to deal with grief. In Rahul Sadavisan’s singularly twisted manner, he conjures up a movie about trauma bonding, in a way only he can. Go to Full Review

Diés Iraé is a horror movie that is more hit than miss in this story about a man who's being haunted by a mysterious ghost. This suspenseful film has excellent sound design, good acting, and a few plot twists that overcome the occasional dull pacing. Go to Full Review
Anandu Suresh The Indian Express Nov 2
4/5
Instead of shocking viewers, Rahul has made the movie slither under their skin step by step, each move sending a shiver down their spine. Rather than petrifying, he has focused on making the audience writhe, ensuring that the sensation lingers. Go to Full Review

It is haunting, thoughtful, and technically accomplished. Yet it is also slow and occasionally distant. The film’s commitment to quiet tension may frustrate those looking for a faster or clearer payoff. Go to Full Review

Along with Pranav Mohanlal, the small cast of Gibin Gopinath, Arun Ajikumar, and Jaya Kurup deliver effective performances that convey horror in full measure. Go to Full Review

Diés Iraé may not match the thematic depth of Bhoothakaalam or the mythic supernatural politics of Bramayugam, but as a straightforward horror film, it’s Rahul Sadasivan operating with sharp control and confident craft. Go to Full Review

Dies Irae Mini Review: A Relentless, Unnerving Psychological Drama From Rahul SadasivanA well-defined horror film with spectacular performances. Other spectacular performances come from Gibin Gopinath and Jaya Kurup, though describing them further would turn. Later, the elements of shared delusion — often seen between co-dependent family members — and the signs of insanity make the film more of a horror story with psychological, mystery, and thriller aspects woven in. There are a few scenes that contain foreshadowing — the close shot of the buffalo and the eeriness that follows before the beginning of the final arc. A couple of gripes would be the predictability of the ending after the final arc, and a handful of unanswered questions — the latter perhaps by design. Dies Irae means The Day of Wrath, and while it has little to do with the actual plot, it lingers on the periphery. Verdict : Horrific Blockbuster. See more Read all reviews
