a hilarious mix of production observation, movie-making incompetence, and unhinged self-implication into an art that always needs outsider input to renew itself. Go to Full Review

Directors Cut is a unique endeavour that it never outstays its welcome, despite the seemingly limiting storytelling device. Go to Full Review

Stephen C @bob25009 May 30 Just 1.5 hours of horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch Dec 24 "Director's Cut" is a horror film that hit theaters for a brief period in 2016, featuring Missy Pyle in the cast. Unfortunately, I found it to be a dismal experience. I had high hopes for an entertaining movie, but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment once I pressed play. The title "Director's Cut" is fitting, as the director constantly interrupts the film to address the audience directly. While the plot unfolds, he takes the time to delve into the backstory and details of the movie-making process, which detracts from the actual story. For example, he reveals that a character who plays a prostitute is actually just an actress who was paid for her role, rather than a real sex worker. I cannot recommend this film. It felt tedious, and the constant narration was more distracting than informative. Instead of immersing myself in the story, I was bombarded with behind-the-scenes insights that I didn't care to know while watching a movie. Overall, it was a frustrating viewing experience. I just wasn't a fan of the narration style of presentation. See more 10/20/2020 I only give it 2 stars because Gilbert was in it. It could have been a great movie, but the whole, 'movie within a movie', thing just made this movie kind of crappy! Crowd funded or not, I would STILL ask for a refund! See more 10/20/2018 It is a funny concept, with some brilliant performances by Jillette and Pyle, but the joke goes on way too long. See more Read all reviews
