Audience Member A war film set against the backdrop of the Great Mongol Empire-the world's most powerful nation-in its invasion and colonial rule over the Seljuk Empire. In the 13th century, when the world's strongest nation, the Great Mongol Empire, was in the midst of its global conquest, the Mongol armies swiftly invaded the Seljuk Empire, and in no time, conquered and colonized the Anatolian Peninsula, reducing the Seljuk Empire to merely one of the Mongol Empire's global colonies. "Karatai" is a war film that portrays the heroic final stand of the Seljuk Empire's troops (whose successors became the Ottoman Empire) as they fiercely resisted the Mongol invasion to the very end.
