Alice Creed (Gemma Arterton), the daughter of a wealthy family, is kidnapped for ransom by two masked men, one of whom is her boyfriend, Danny (Martin Compston). The other man is Vic (Eddie Marsan), who Danny intends to double-cross once they get the ransom. Although Alice eventually discovers that Danny is one of her abductors, they are forced to continue acting like strangers, since Vic does not know about Alice and Danny's relationship -- and would kill them both if he were to find out.

This film certainly punches above it's weight. I was surprised to learn from the extra features on the DVD that this was a low budget film. A great cast with slick dialogue, several plot twists and tight cinematography.

This movie kept me guessing until the very end. My one critique is that on more than one occasion, the actors were only shaking as if they were crying but shed no tears; however, I do recommend this movie because it continued to surprise me in terms of what was going to happen next. The daughter of a wealthy man is kidnapped and held hostage by two former convicts. An unexpectedly good time was had by this viewer as I encountered an intelligent story with twists and turns I didn't expect. Arterton is excellent and I'm always happy to see Marsan on the bill.

Its not bad, its not too predictable, but the ending is predictable. The acting is okay but the tension build in this movie is really good even though its just 3 people on the screen. Interesting drama, kept my attention for as long as it is, its okay maybe would recommend.

A well done English thriller film that is more realistic and not as outlandish as most making it way more believable than most. The abduction sequence is quite hard to watch in the beginning but once that's over the twists begin and you get drawn into the intrigue.

Synopsis
