Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle For a movie about our relationship with our bodies, there's surprisingly little intellectual meat on its pretentious bones. Rated: 2/5 Nov 2, 2023 Full Review Carlos Aguilar Los Angeles Times A movie destined for a cult following and subsequent midnight showings, “Divinity” does commit the sin of placing style over substance, but there’s enough of the latter to keep one’s mind spinning along with it Oct 23, 2023 Full Review Christian Zilko indieWire Alcazar pulls on whatever narrative thread suits his fancy in a given minute, but once you realize that piecing his shots together into something truly coherent is a fool’s errand, it’s a delight to accompany him for the ride. Rated: B+ Oct 16, 2023 Full Review Marshall Shaffer Decider Eddie Alcazar delivers far more on imagery than ideas, but there's a gnawing sense that he's subconsciously onto something that only future audiences will realize... Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) Despite a unique visual presentation, Divinity flounders in its story, haphazardly bouncing through an undefined plot leading to a convoluted mess. Pure style over substance, failing to deliver on a narrative that is engaging or entertaining. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 4, 2024 Full Review Rocco T. Thompson Daily Dead There’s a whiff of the ridiculous to Eddie Alcazar’s stylish sci-fi horror satire that’ll put some off, but even a hater can’t deny what a visual marvel Divinity is. Tim C. It looked cool aesthetically, but the plot was an afterthought, so it put me to sleep. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/08/23 Full Review Justin Definitely a weird film, reminiscent of a 90's indie sci-fi. Overall I enjoyed it but could have done without the graphic sex scenes. Nothing is more uncomfortable then watching those scenes in a theater with complete strangers. Subtracting one star because of that. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Ash Leone Very bizarre, but very entertaining! Definitely a one of kind film! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/09/23 Full Review Joseph P Very weird and creepy, kinda reminded me of the vibes I got from Beyond the Black Rainbow. Definitely not for everyone but I enjoyed it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Michael Amazing experience for sickos Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/04/23 Full Review Jerod S Divinity is a serum that will keep you young and strong. But the movie is all confused around 2 alien brothers eventually fighting a divinity monster and a lot of goop around fertility and womanhood.
