Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Orlan brings a convincing toughness to the throwback action sequences, although the pedestrian script is an adversary she’s unable to conquer. Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Martin Unsworth Starburst Thrill-packed and not as predictable as many of its type, director (and co-writer) Michael S. Ojeda’s film is often startlingly brutal and a must-see for action fans. Rated: 3/5 Oct 23, 2024 Full Review Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files Dominique was doing more with less and thriving. But the final act is so infuriating that it nearly ruined the entire viewing experience. Rated: 4/10 Oct 21, 2024 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Pretty much everything about Michael S Ojeda’s film is by the book – right down to Chekov’s pregnant woman – but it rattles along fast enough to keep viewers from worrying about that too much. Rated: 3/5 Oct 21, 2024 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies … a pure action spectacle, shaped by Ojeda’s assured style and driven by Orlan’s steely charisma and commanding presence. Rated: 4/5 Oct 20, 2024 Full Review Laura Hiros Rincón de cine If you are looking to be mesmerized by a symphony of bullets and raw stories (...), Dominique will not disappoint you, just like the protagonist herself, when it seems she can't go further, she rises from the ashes. Loverofmovies This is a gripping film, an action/ adventure as a woman encounters a group of peaceful villagers being hunted down by For their land and heritage. The wonderful direction by Michael Oheda reveals the heart and soul of both the people and their amazing leader, Oksana Oran, who gives a breathtaking performance which is a must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Nathan Great action film with heart felt moments. It was carefully thought through with the story and didnt leave plot holes that action films usually have. It was clever, well acted and directed, solid writing and it was shot beautifully. For an independent action film, I was pleased the entire film. I thought it was well worth watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Richard B It’s a great movie, despite the things that go wrong. Every time we think Dominique (Oksana Orlan in prime action hero mode) has won, something else goes wrong. Spoilers: despite several times saving the family, it doesn’t work out right. But each time she is challenged, and dismissed (for being a “gringa”) by the corrupt police force and the cartel, she takes the action up another notch and proves them wrong. Despite all that has failed, and the friends who have been killed, and the ever-increasing forces allied against her (each time she kills a bunch of cops and thugs, they get more), and even the suggestion in the last minute that she has lost, we see during the closing credits that every single cartel thug and corrupt cop is now dead. She didn’t accomplish her original goal of saving the family, but she accomplished a different goal, destroying the bad guys. And she publicly released the recorded video that her close friend had captured, before he was killed, and that the cops and cartel had tried so hard to destroy, making all their killings and corruption now public. The movie flies by, the whole thing taking place in little more than a day, getting deeper and more complex; each time she wins, they take it up a notch, and she and the family are in trouble again. It isn't the kind of simple movie where everyone lives, but it is the kind where the hero reaches deep time and again for motivation, energy, and fury to achieve her vengeance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/09/25 Full Review Audience Member Lots of violence but underlying theme is one of courage and perseverance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review ALEX S "Dominique" delivers a fantastic story filled with thrilling action and adrenaline-pumping moments. The pacing keeps you on edge, and the cinematography captures the intensity beautifully. However, while the film excels in excitement, some aspects of realism take a backseat. For instance, the idea of walking from Guajira to Boyacá in a single day is about as believable as trekking from the Las Vegas desert to Miami in the same timeframe. It stretches logic to the point of distraction, making it hard to fully immerse in the story. Overall, Dominique is an entertaining ride with solid action, but the unrealistic details leave us scratching our heads. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review F F I enjoy a shoot-em-up movie now and then. This one delivers on that but also also delivers as a very powerful story with tragedy and triumph. I see that Martin Unsworth from Starburst gave a very positive review but only 3 stars; I don't understand that. Everyone else so far has given it 5 stars. That's what it deserves. I you speak spanish you'll enjoy it even more. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Read all reviews
