John W. M Interesting take on the supernatural horror genre from a First Nations perspective. The acting and script are strong; the film lacked tension at times, but I appreciated the indigenous political and cultural elements, which were complex, and not “preachy.” Well worth a watch! The acting felt off-mark, with the actors not conveying the appropriate emotions for the situations their characters found themselves in. The creatures special affects were also lacking, appearing amateurish and cheesy. The music, while not entirely without merit, fell flat in certain areas, particularly during sad scenes were loud and upbeat music was played. This film felt like something made by a college student even though the story line itself had much potential. Overall, I found this film to be a disappointing watch and would not recommend it if looking for a good horror.
