"Don't Say Its Name" is a cohesive crime thriller with supernatural elements. Chilling atmosphere and great performances.

This ended up as one of those horror films that fell short of expectations. The acting felt off-mark, with the actors not conveying the appropriate emotions for the situations their characters found themselves in. The creatures special affects were also lacking, appearing amateurish and cheesy. The music, while not entirely without merit, fell flat in certain areas, particularly during sad scenes were loud and upbeat music was played. This film felt like something made by a college student even though the story line itself had much potential. Overall, I found this film to be a disappointing watch and would not recommend it if looking for a good horror.

Don’t Say Its Name is a genre film with so much to say, all while telling a compelling little supernatural story along the way, and its numerous, refreshing representations of Indigenous characters is something everybody needs to witness.
