Don’t Say Its Name is a genre film with so much to say, all while telling a compelling little supernatural story along the way, and its numerous, refreshing representations of Indigenous characters is something everybody needs to witness. Go to Full Review

To experience this jus as a monster movie is still to enjoy a fun ride. To appreciate its deeper resonance, well, that makes the difference between three stars and four. Go to Full Review

Mazarine F Feb 13 This was fun. The action kept a good pace - no lulls in the story; the effects were very good for a smaller production; the overall look was great - from scenery to makeup. I jumped. It was a treat as someone who loves all the lore, and it wasn't schmaltzy, corny or moralizing. It was crisp. Loved the female characters. It deserves a bigger audience. See more Charles P Jan 2 Really good production values, nice story. Acting just mediocre. See more Tom L 12/27/2024 Strong female leads and a story told from a native American perspective were refreshing, but unfortunately in all other ares this film fell flat. Cliche story, not-so-great acting, terrible dialogue, cheesy monster effects, awful music. It played like a bad early 2000s cop show with supernatural elements. I had high hopes considering the critics’ ratings and the story line about the Wendigo myth, but was quite disappointed. See more John W. M @jwmartens 09/02/2024 Interesting take on the supernatural horror genre from a First Nations perspective. The acting and script are strong; the film lacked tension at times, but I appreciated the indigenous political and cultural elements, which were complex, and not “preachy.” Well worth a watch! See more Hugo S @Hugo_Shudder 08/30/2023 An evil entity known as the Wendigo terrorizes an indigenous community rooted in ancient religious practices. Local authorities realize the traditional investigation methods will not save the community from this supernatural menace. "Don't Say Its Name" is a cohesive crime thriller with supernatural elements. Chilling atmosphere and great performances. See more Read all reviews
