Four years after publishing a controversial exposé of professional football, reporter Peter Barnes (James LeGros) is fired from his magazine job. He turns for help to supportive editor Tom White (Josh Lucas), who assigns James to profile 19-year-old actor Spanks Voley (Desmond Harrington). After the two have an evening of conversation, goons rough up Spanks, destroying his chances of movie fame. Peter investigates the assault and uncovers allegations of domestic abuse against the young man.
