All the gold in a small Colorado town has been panned, save for a bit that sits on land belonging to the Ute people. Greedy Frank Walker (Lyle Bettger) rounds up the locals and makes plans to raid the Ute territory, but even-tempered settler Sam Brannon (Walter Brennan) tries to dissuade Walker from launching the attack. The battle nears, and Sam's conflicted son, Gary (Audie Murphy), is torn between his belief in his father's morality and his hatred of the Utes, who killed his mother.

Audience Member Really good one here highly recommend it James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas, August 22, 2023 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Audie Murphy made a lot of mediocre B westerns but he is always watchable and this is one of his better films. Lyle Bettger and Hugh O'Brian make strong villains. What is unusual about this film is how nasty and violent the fight scenes are for their day. And because of the audience's knowledge of Murphy's heroic exploits in WWII his willingness to take on huge odds feels plausible. Though limited as an actor Murphy was able to convincingly demonstrate pent up anger and hostility. In fact he spends most of the film being quietly angry. Worth a watch for fans of B Westerns.
