      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Shamelessly derivative and only sporadically funny, Due Date doesn't live up to the possibilities suggested by its talented director and marvelously mismatched stars.

James N I don't understand the hate, this is one of my favorite comedies. SO funny. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review A B It's like a buddy movie where the cooler guy gets set up for an adventure with a quixotic buddy who later grows on you, only in this movie neither character is likable. I found myself wondering what I should do after the movie, when I was still watching the movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review M R I downloaded this off 'The Pirate Bay' when my local Blockbuster shut down. I miss Blockbuster. This wasn't very good. I feel 'Due Date' killed Zach Galifanakis' chances at being the next breakout comedy star because he was typecast as a pot bellied simpleton which prevented him from reaching his potential in being the next Jim Carrey or Steve Carrell. Imagine those three helming a film. Robert Downey Jr. acts like he owes someone a favor in this. The storyline is basic, but the comedy just wasn't very funny. It isn't bad, but with these two it should have been waaay better. Rating: 6.5/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review Grasshopper S I love this. One of the most Funniest movies I've seen. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/05/23 Full Review cbcguy Not a top 10 comedy or anything but nonetheless a hilarious and underrated movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably was the most boring movie I’ve ever wasted my time on. It was so choppy and so bad I wanted to fall asleep. Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Oscar-nominated actor Robert Downey Jr. usually has a knack for picking good movies. But Due Date is not one of them. Rated: D Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor Downey is not entirely comfortable playing straight man and a little of Galifianakis's antics goes a long way. Rated: C Jan 3, 2011 Full Review Jim Schembri The Age (Australia) It's a tough double act, but the film pulls it off with great confidence and some major laughs. Rated: 3/5 Nov 24, 2010 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Due Date is a big step down, like fall-down-an-escalator down. Rated: 1/5 Apr 7, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Like most of Phillips’ comedies, the movie’s half-life is brief, leaving the viewer only temporarily diverted until the moment it’s over. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 3, 2023 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …Due Date isn’t a particularly substantial film, but top talent in front of the camera make it watchable middlebrow fare… Rated: 3/5 Feb 28, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
