Critics Consensus

Earth to Echo doesn't do itself any favors by beggaring comparison to E.T., but for younger viewers, it should prove a reasonably entertaining diversion.

Joe McGovern Entertainment Weekly The mildewed found-footage technique allows some tension to build from offscreen action, but also renders the knockoff John Williams score inexplicable. Rated: C- Dec 3, 2014 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Worth seeing for those who haven't seen it all before. Rated: 3/5 Jul 26, 2014 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times If you distilled this not intolerable film into a bottle, you could happily market it is as Essence of Spielberg. Rated: 3/5 Jul 25, 2014 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film Earth to Echo, it’s not that I’m mad at you, I’m just disappointed. Or is that just worse to say? Rated: C Aug 19, 2024 Full Review Robert Sims Lights Camera Austin From start to finish, Earth to Echo wants to jog our memories about the unforgettable experiences we have experienced with our best friends. Jan 22, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Amiable but not terribly exciting. It has a distinct direct-to-video vibe, despite at least one eye-popping sequence of a truck being dismantled and reassembled. Rated: 2/5 Feb 1, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Hyper K one of the best and most nostalgic movies i ever seen, i love it with all my heart, watch it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Emi Q Am i the only one who loved this movie? I know it’s by no means a perfect movie but for what it is, this movie will always have a special place in my heart Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review Joseph B The way the film is shot makes it very realistic from the POV of teens making a film. It shows a great representation of friendship with very talented young actors and many intense/emotional scenes. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Janice H I can only give this movie 2 stars. Here is my review: 1. Echo is a likeable character but the main characters, I don't like so much. The characters are flat and uninteresting, making it hard to care about their journey. The found footage style of filming is more annoying than engaging, making it hard to follow the story. I especially hate Emma, she's so sassy and her attitude makes me want to throw her out the window. 2. The plot is too general and has no backstory. It is just about some kids trying to send an alien home but a it's not as promising as that. 3. I would like more sci-fi content. 4. I would also like more powerful antagonists. 5. The film’s pacing is uneven, with some parts dragging on while others feel rushed. This inconsistency makes it hard to stay engaged and weakens the overall impact of the story. I like the ending tho. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Archived C Watching this again in 2023, absolutely brilliant Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/23 Full Review Liam M I watched this movie in 2016 and a few days ago The reaction was the same I was able to touch with a lot of the characters particularly Alex and munch The story also resonated with me as I know what it feels like to lose friends as next year I'll be going into my fourth school I have no idea why it's so disliked by critics I think it's a brilliant movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
