Quim's (Leonardo Sbaraglia) car is shot at as he is driving across a sparse stretch of land. When he stops to investigate the shooting, he is fired at again, but manages to escape to a wooded area, and there he finds Bea (María Valverde), a woman he had encountered in a gas station moments earlier. The two seem to be the targets of deadly assassins as they run helplessly through the forest -- but when the killers are revealed, it evokes an empathy Quim would never have expected.

Xan Brooks Guardian It's at its best in a tense middle section that plays as a pared-down existential nightmare. Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2009 Full Review Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) The tautness of the first hour is tremendous, and features something I never thought to see in such a movie: the spectacle of a man, hiding inside a car from his would-be killer, and doing something we would all probably do in real life: actually whimper. Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2009 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) From Spain comes a leaner, bleaker horror film. Rated: 3/5 Feb 12, 2009 Full Review Bill Chambers Film Freak Central A political thriller in the sense that it's bound to polarize audiences... Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 24, 2009 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) The revelation of the shooter's identity, however, is a bit of a yawn, especially if you have seen the 2006 French film Them or last year's British horror movie Eden Lake. Rated: 2/5 Feb 19, 2009 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) It starts off well enough as Deliverance and Duel but becomes very conventional when, two-thirds of the way through, the snipers are revealed and it turns into what might be called Haneke-panky. Audience Member The movie was kind of boring and typical of a thriller this type, the characters were kind off different but the real positive thing was the portrayal of the antagonists that really made the movie a little more intriguing. But by the end it was too lost and you simply can't outdone the rest of the movie. ~March 15, 2015~ Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member didn't care for this one Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Bleak, boring and so slow I spent half the movie on fast forward. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A genuinely suspenseful thriller with convincing acting and superb directing, as well as spectacular cinematography which adds to the pulse-pounding terror; makes us think of a Coen Brother movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review Audience Member "The Most Dangerous Game" in the Spanish countryside. Much better than Apollo 18. "A work of hard-driving tension, this is satisfyingly terse, methodical and relentless." ? Tom Huddlestone, Time Out Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Dang. That was intense. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
