Joe H Smart, subtle, hilarious satire of the dictator and his greedy family. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/01/24 Full Review Rafael B muito ruim mesmo!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review Chris R What a delight to find some new life in the old vampire tropes. Did I say new? I meant fun. Bloody, gory, horrifying fun... but fun. I can understand why some viewers would rather not deal with subtitles, and may wonder why some of the story is narrated in English. There's a payoff. Nuff said. I can also understand why some might not care about a long-dead (maybe) dictator. Again, this story finds a reason and makes it work beautifully. I so want to find people who've seen it to discuss the great reveals and twists... but... I'll have to wait. Just know that this is a movie that begins with a wild premise and never quits working it or finding fresh surprises. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review walter veneziani J Cinematography is amazing. The movie is really gritty and weird with Margaret Thatcher making a sudden appearance Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Alec B Admittedly a great concept but one that proves difficult to structure an entire movie around. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Tom E I expected this movie to be unusual and in that regard, it did not disappoint. Not a typical theme for me, it brought a new method of film making and cinema photography. Vampires = blood flows Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Craig Mathieson Sydney Morning Herald The accoutrements of power are telling -- flying in his military cape Pinochet is a fascist superhero -- and Larrain’s gory filmmaking is equally effective as historic prosecution or a macabre fantasy. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 21, 2023 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) The film’s political outlook is a little fuzzy, but it bleeds pure, righteous bitterness. Larraín jumps at the chance to turn political ideology into a literal horror show. Rated: 4/5 Sep 18, 2023 Full Review Christy Lemire Breakfast All Day Ed Lachman's cinematography is just luscious. It is just incredibly, richly beautiful in black and white. Sep 15, 2023 Full Review Kristian M. Lin Fort Worth Weekly Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship is a touchstone of Pablo Larraín’s films, and this black-and-white Netflix movie cleverly imagines him as a vampire who surveys the broad sweep of history through the centuries... Mar 18, 2024 Full Review Aglaia Berlutti El estímulo Augusto Pinochet and his long shadow of terror is transmuted, thanks to cinema, into a classic monster. Director Pablo Larraín's strategy to atone for historical horror is bold and controversial.
