Tasha Robinson The Verge Arguably, Elizabeth Harvest is about those favorite science-fiction standbys: identity, hubris, and humanity's darkest sides. Aug 21, 2018 Full Review Anthony Lane New Yorker A curious amalgam of fairy tale and fever dream, which makes less and less sense as it proceeds but does so with undiminished flair... Aug 13, 2018 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com It's not clear where Gutierrez's interest lies, why this story matters to him, what he's trying to say. Rated: 2/4 Aug 10, 2018 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an intriguing premise that's slowly-but-surely drained of its positive attributes by Gutierrez... Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 15, 2020 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed Elizabeth Harvest is a moody fairytale of a film with striking visuals and strong performances. It's a slow, at first, story that is worth watching develop to see where it all goes. Rated: 4/5 Apr 11, 2020 Full Review Luke Whiston TheShiznit.co.uk Elizabeth Harvest is an effective enough sci-fi thriller which puts the science on the backseat in favour of shock twists. Jeffrey P Peaks too soon and loses most of the mystery, suspense, and intrigue by the halfway point. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/11/23 Full Review Courtney K i actually quite enjoyed this one; i liked the plot & everyone acted their parts well. not a bad watch at all. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/20/23 Full Review Kate D Pretty darn nifty mix of classic Gothic tale with Grimm Fairy tale done as a sci-fi thriller. Acting is tops across the board. Gugino always steals the show but the titular Elizabeth Abbey Lee is subtle and stunning in veddy veddy clever ways. My guess is this will continue to attract a cult following until folks stop comparing it to Garland and Nolan, both whom are a but more aggressively masculine in their approach. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/05/23 Full Review Amy F This is a very interesting science fiction film with a touch of horror. It's full of surprises and not something you would expect as you're watching it unfold. It reminded me of the movie Inception as the main characters understanding of reality was drastically altered throughout the movie. I don't know why there are so many poor reviews, but I would imagine it has a a bit to do with misogyny (too many incel types seem to stalk certain movie reviews). Once one sees the movie, you come to realize that a brilliant woman scientist is at the center of this plot and another beautiful women is the main character. For all intents and purposes, this is an extremely good movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review aknamnil r Bluebeard upgraded with Argento colors and trippy music. Insular and contained. A pressure cooker with very measured performances. The titular Elizabeth is well modulated by fashion super model Abbey Lee Kershaw. Better with repeated viewings. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review s l I don't watch many movies like this so if the story presented is a common one, I wouldn't know. I liked it. I thought it was well made. I didn't have too many criticisms or 'wishes they would've' throughout the movie. It did get me confused in a couple parts, which I could've done without I think. Those parts did get straightened out eventually. It wasn't chock full of science stuff, which I expected, so I guess it was geared more towards a horror/mystery tale than SciFi. The setting was creepy imho. Despite the house's luxuriousness, it was almost worse imagining being there alone than being in a creepy gothic style house alone. I'd recommend it.
