The admiration that this documentary has for Ella Fitzgerald is palpable... But it feels like a jumping off point for deeper exploration rather than a deeper exploration in itself. Go to Full Review

mary g 02/04/2023 It's a documentary. That didn't stop me from wanting to hear more and see more, especially of her early years and some of the greats. It did provide information on her youth that was new to me. Striking. It stuck in my mind through the film as I watched her sing with a voice like no other. What good fortune for her and for us that she was born with that voice. The pain of being born Black was non-stop. I've heard other singers say when they are singing before an audience, that's s all that exists. It seems so for Ella and we have her recordings. See more John B 01/28/2023 I enjoyed this Documentary about Ella the legend as it reflects back on her life growing up and the challenges she faced in that time period. I also enjoyed the music along with hearing from her son & others that knew & worked with her and the admiration they had for this wonderful lady. See more Read all reviews
