Nicolas Rapold New York Times The film feels both hermetic and declarative, and it's folly to constantly remind a viewer of Fassbinder's impossible-to-replicate alchemy of color, lighting, angles and passion. May 13, 2021 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian This film vividly conjures up the shabby, cigarette-ashy world: the West Germany of radical chic and revolutionary paranoia. Rated: 3/5 Mar 31, 2021 Full Review Jonathan Romney Screen International Enfant Terrible is somewhat repetitive - ever more shouting, more hedonism, more tainted glory - but it's never boring. Sep 24, 2020 Full Review Dave Giannini InSession Film Enfant Terrible is able to paint the picture of a terrified, complex, deeply flawed man who has a lot to give to the world of film, even if maybe he should have given to himself and his compatriots a bit more. Rated: B Feb 23, 2024 Full Review Jason Shawhan Nashville Scene As RWF, Oliver Masucci (you might know him from Netflix's Dark) commits fully, leading with the gut and the bile duct as he tears the supporting cast asunder. Sep 8, 2021 Full Review Pat Padua Spectrum Culture This lurid biopic of iconoclastic director Rainer Werner Fassbinder too often feels like an R-rated "SNL" skit. ALEX V Did not believe Oliver Masucci would be able to play a believable Rainer Werner Fassbinder after playing the lead in "Look Who's Back". The Music rocks, the dialogue is fun & Brigitte Mira and Andy Warhol are also played well. Wished the producers had used real footage in between and not only the original sound of newscasters. Maybe it was a rights clearance issue. However, thanks for this trip. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/22 Full Review Audience Member Let me state that I am a fan of RWF. While I understand the sets, lighting, etc., that are employed in an effort to pay homage to the director, Masucci (despite his impeccable rendering of Fassbinder) is a 50-ish year-old man playing a man who died at 37. I noticed it right away, and it tainted the production, in my opinion. It is certainly worth viewing, but I’d really like to see a more true-to-life film about the life of RWF, without the filmmakers attempting to make it so stylized. It would also be nice to have some cameos of Fassbinder’s “favorites” (not as themselves), as several of them are still living. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/01/21 Full Review mike m At times hard to watch but never dull. They got feel and the looked of Fassbinder down to a t Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
