Audience Member A romance and drama movie that joined in 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival about a Filipino-American guy looking a perfect Filipino translator to deliver a speech to someone he's being following that cause him a heart break. English Only Please has a good premise and light comedy to tell but I find it a shallow story and conflict isn't much of a concern. It tells about tragedy in love life of the two main characters played by Jenelyn Mercado and Derek Ramsay who in their own merits delivered the best performance to justify their roles. I think their notable performance was the main salvation of the film from being panned. The story is being swallowed by the lead actors performance which I think is good but bad for the overall review of the film because it means the story of the movie is forgettable. But despite of hard swallowing of its story, English Only Please deliver a good lesson on knowing the right term of Filipino language and knowing when you are becoming a fool because of love. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member "English Only, Please" consists of a plot that seems very familiar. And it was, indeed. It didn't feel that way though. It felt fresh and inspired. The story was well-conceived and there's patience in its execution especially in the characterization. It appropriately delivers a creative, pleasant and first-rate dose of romance and comedy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
