It offers a fun mix of mystery, adventure, and character-driven storytelling that keeps things engaging throughout. Millie Bobby Brown delivers a strong and charismatic performance, making Enola a clever, independent, and likable lead. The film does a great job of establishing her personality and journey without relying on the more traditional Sherlock Holmes approach. The story is well-paced, balancing light humor with moments of tension and discovery. It also builds an interesting world while keeping the focus on Enola’s growth and determination. See more Lenee G @RT37984004 Mar 17 This is honestly one of my comfort movies and one of my favorites as a self proclaimed Holmesian. It is absolutely wonderful and the historical details they included have stuck with me, showing they clearly do their research. I continue to enjoy it even as I grow out of my teenage years, still coming back to it to feel joy and suspense. This is probably one of Millie Bobby Brown's best roles, and Henry Cavill is a better Sherlock than people would expect. There were some links in the mystery that didn't make complete sense, but that was pretty small in the grand scope of the film. I once heard someone claim that this movie is nothing more than cheesy feminist propaganda, but I hardly agree. There is a difference between propaganda and truth. Many of what this film and its sequels touch on was the reality for women in the 19th century, and again the people behind this did their homework because they don't attempt to make that truth seem better or worse than it actually was.
