Critics Consensus

Enola Holmes brings a breath of fresh air to Baker Street -- and leaves plenty of room for Millie Bobby Brown to put her effervescent stamp on a franchise in waiting.

Maureen Lee Lenker Entertainment Weekly While the mystery might be elementary (my dear, notably absent, Watson), the storytelling is winkingly subversive, proclaiming that a new and welcome game is afoot. Rated: B+ Feb 14, 2021 Full Review Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) Buoyant and precocious without being even slightly annoying, Brown has pinpoint comic timing, infectious perk, and a wholesome, tomboyish aura: imagine a young Keira Knightley crossed with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Rated: 3/5 Nov 20, 2020 Full Review Lindsey Bahr Associated Press "Enola Homes" is the kind of movie that the preteen set will surely delight in and watch over and over. I know I would have. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Yasmine Kandil Discussing Film This tale gives us the comfort of characters we know and love with a brand new style and rhythm. Rated: 4/5 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Nadine Whitney Mr. Movie's Film Blog Indubitably, with Enola Holmes, the game is indeed afoot for a quality adventure and decent mystery; but mostly, the audience will be enchanted by the young detective and her humor and humanity. Sep 17, 2023 Full Review Jillian Chilingerian Offscreen With Jillian Millie Bobbie Brown stars as the title character in Enola Holmes. Brown, known as Eleven on Stranger Things, is radiant in this mature role where she is obviously having the time of her life. Aug 22, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Anna G I would rather saw my head off with a rusty spoon than watch this movie ever again. The fake feminism, the overdone fourth wall breaks, the predictable plot, the shallow characters, the nonsensical fight scenes. This movie has not only ruined the characterization of Sherlock Holmes, but has reduced him to a bumbling, emotional idiot that is outdone by a sixteen-year-old girl that is barely able to solve a simple anagram. The fight scenes are simply unrealistic, with many of the weapons and choreography being so obviously not possible within the given parameters. Helena Bonham Carter has once again taken on a fake feminist role that barely benefits the people around her, and the minimum amount of effort was put into her being a suffregette. It is an unsympathetic role that abandons her child for a riot that never happens and is easily taken apart by the young girl. Millie Bobby Brown’s acting is frigid and painful to watch, which is only compounded by the over-dramatized and rushed script. The fact that she is supposed to represent a bright young girl of that caliber is . . . sad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review dustination P A good mix of drama, action, and humor. The acting was good. It was an interesting storyfrom beginning to end. It's definitely worth a watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/22/25 Full Review Zach K Very fun movie, Millie Bobby Brown was great as Holmes, the 4th wall breaks and "Jimming the camera" is definitely a choice, but I didn't mind it. The action scenes were thrilling and well choreographed, very Guy Richie Sherlock like. What I didn't like was Henry Cavil as Sherlock, just wasn't the most believable portrayal I've seen, but he did alright. 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/31/25 Full Review Erin love this movie but i will never fully believe that’s sam claflin behind the mycroft mustache Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/26/25 Full Review Monic Kenya M Great script, well directed. Good acting Entertaining to watch Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/17/25 Full Review Katie J Clever and charming! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/16/25 Full Review Read all reviews
