Audience Member Very slow moving plot, with scenes so stretched out they lose all sense of emotion. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Don't bother, a waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a shame that such a fantastic cast was hung out to dry by director Dan Gordon's unnecessary excess. This could have been something really special but Gordon's insistence on squeezing every last bit of sentimentality from every scene makes the whole film seem disingenuous and contrived. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was absolutely entertaining. I laughed and cried. It's just what a movie suppose to do. It's a charming and beautiful story set in the back drop of a very quirky town and bigger then life characters. Olysa Rulen is wonderful as the young Mary - very real and emotional. Linda Gray blew me away for her performance. Where has she been? She is a great comedic actress and should be recognized during award season. What a powerful performance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this film! It has a cast that audiences will enjoy seeing, and a story that provides good clean entertainment that makes you feel good. The point of this film is not to take life too seriously, to appreciate others in your life and that family can be where you choose to find it. Expecting Mary is a surprisingly funny and refreshing story about a pregnant runaway teen heading to LA to see her father. Along the way she meets a group of people who live in a trailer park where she learns the true meaning of family. Expecting Mary is masterfully written and directed by Dan Gordon, who presents a range of well developed characters who each have their own transformation in some way throughout the story. A solid cast makes each character very likable and pulls you in early on. Hilarious characters include the trailer park owner, the airport baggage handler and the Elvis impersonator. Lead actors Linda Gray, Cloris Leachman, Della Reese, and Cybill Shepherd provide some truly entertaining performances. Linda Gray's role as Darnella provides an uplifting view of life with lessons we can all learn from about living in the moment. Expecting Mary is a genuinely funny fee-good film with broad appeal. It's an independent film that deserves to "make it big" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review kim w This is an uplifting treasure of a movie. I highly recommend this film to all parents with their kids. The message is profound and told by a legendary quirky cast of characters. They just don't make movies like this any more. I didn't know what to "expect"...but Expecting Mary is a hit. Go see this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Frederica Mathewes-Green Christianity Today Despite the calculated setup and quirky characters, the film, like Juno and Bella, brings another pro-birth story to the big screen. May there be many more. Rated: 2/4 Sep 24, 2010 Full Review Loey Lockerby Kansas City Star Rulin gives a warm, down-to-earth performance, which counters writer-director Dan Gordon's tendency to blow out the Quirk-O-Meter.
