Synopsis
This film features two stories about courage. In the first, a self-doubting ship's captain (James Mason) is torn between duty and the right thing after he rescues a wanted sailor. The sailor, it turns out, committed a heinous act -- but in doing so saved his crewmates. The second half centers around Marshal Jack Potter (Robert Preston), who has trouble waiting for him in the form of a bitter, drunken gunslinger. But Jack is actually more concerned about the town's reaction to his taking a wife.
