Bilge Ebiri Spirituality & Health Faith Connections does occasionally lose focus. At the same time, the event lends a fascinating, otherworldly quality to what we're seeing onscreen; the images Nalin has gathered are beautiful and evocative. Mar 24, 2020 Full Review Nicolas Rapold New York Times The organic nature and hard-to-fathom scale of Kumbh Mela demand a more systematic strategy. Sep 11, 2014 Full Review Jake Wilson Sydney Morning Herald A slick yet mostly tedious documentary that runs nearly two hours without getting much beyond a tourist's point of view. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 4, 2014 Full Review T'Cha Dunlevy Montreal Gazette While he does a decent job of bringing us into the trivial daily existence of these different characters during the event, Nalin doesn't quite manage to capture its greater significance. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 20, 2015 Full Review Simon Foster Screen-Space Though unwieldy and overlong, Faith Connections is nevertheless a remarkably insightful film, full of stunning images and imbued with a strong sense of family and personal growth. Audience Member All that we are not. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I have travelled in India, the logistics of making a documentary in India frankly appear very difficult. The other thing that appears daunting is to attend the kumbha Mela. Pan Nailin as done both. This film is far better than its own potted description suggests. It subtley gets to the heart of what personal interactions and relationships mean to us and why One of the best documentaries ever Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review antti p Every third year tens of millions of Hindus gather to bathe in the a holy river in an event called Kumbh Mela. This document follows a few attendants at the latest controlled chaos of 2013, held in the interconnection of three holy rivers, Ganges, Yamuna and the invisible Saraswati, where over 100 million people visited during the 55 days.
