Janis M I absolutely LOVE the original Fantasy Island!!! It brings back so many memories!! Ricardo Montalban is legendary- amazing! The magic of "Mr. Roarke" makes us believe we can all have a "fantasy".... even if only for a little while!! This is timeless, EPIC television!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/17/23 Full Review Audience Member (Now this is the review for the 2020 version of this movie. For some reason the review for that movie isn't working so I'm putting it here because nobody knows about this movie.) Very stupid but surprisingly entertaining at times Blumhouse movie starring the infamous Lucy hale, the unlucky Ryan Hansen, the funny as always Jimmy o yang and some other random characters who were also in this movie. Now this is a very dumb movie don't get me wrong but you have to watch this movie with a grain of salt. The writing sucks and is you're normal cheap horror movie cliche script. It kinda works in some places but overall it's not good. Lucy hale aka the headliner for this movie is the most annoying character in this movie and something about her is just annoying. She acts the same in every role and just like another blumhouse movie truth or dare also starring Lucy hale it's the same thing. Cringe teenager but now she can do the adult roles now. She is the low point of this movie. Yes the writing in the 3rd act is horrendous and lazy writing if I'm being honest but before that had some really interesting stuff. For example the two main highlights of this movie are the Asian woman who wants a redo and marry the love of her life is a very intriguing and emotional story. And the cop dude who wants to be a solider but then he sees his dad is also very emotional. I felt interested and sad at the same time during their scenes and was always looking forward to seeing more stuff of those two characters. This movie feels like a tv show kinda and I know that this is an adaptation of a tv show and it shows. But what's weird is this movie is very short but it feels like 2 hours and 20 something minutes. That last act killed me metaphorically speaking because it dragged and I could tell that the writers didn't know what to do for the ending. They had a general understanding that Lucy hale was the bad guy or girl in this scenario but that's it. No well time thought into it and it's fairly simple for a horror movie buff to figure out. This movie is weird being all over the place but in the end if you want a really dumb movie for movie night watch something else. Only if you're binging all the blumhouse movies during Halloween season then watch this.
