Far From the Tree is hopeful, honest, raw in its intimacy, and it allows its subjects to go through unremarkable and remarkable days, so we get a better sense of how accomplished and dignified these folks are. Go to Full Review

12/25/2024 I watch a LOT of documentaries and, for whatever reason, I had not heard about this one before Amazon Prime 'suggested' it. The film was A+ in my book. My 'phony meter' never got set off once. That is what made the stories portrayed here about the subjects and their families truly inspiring. I was glued to the screen the entire time. Great film...an important and under-publicized one! See more dave d 09/19/2019 When the subjects are at the forefront, 'Far from the Tree' works and works well, but when the Author of the book from which this documentary was based takes center stage, the film screeches to a snobby halt. The subjects are inspirational and while you feel bad for each at first glance, by the end of our journey with each we can't help but feel raised up. Rachel Dretzin's doc undoubtedly gives us many things to ponder about people who may look different, but in reality aren't that different at all. See more 08/13/2018 This movie is iconic, real, inspiring and shares the challenges and triumphs that every family has experienced in some way. The families who opened their lives for this documentary have unsurpassed courage. This needs to be on every venue available- theatres, Netflix, etc. please help spread the word- I have friends and families who don't have the venues available. See more Read all reviews
