Ela Bittencourt The L Magazine It might be that Marie still waits for a true incarnation, but Jacquot's pushing her beyond likeability is refreshing. Apr 12, 2018 Full Review Kristin M. Jones Film Comment Magazine His portrait loses some of its eerie power through the ugly twist at the film's conclusion, but she remains a fascinating enigma, and touchingly human. Nov 5, 2013 Full Review Bruce DeMara Toronto Star Jacquot has chosen wisely in casting La Seydoux in the key role of Sidonie, whose luminous but watchful eyes suggest a soul wise beyond her years. Andy L Such a good film. I love the authentic portrayal of this period and of Versailles and Marie Antoinette. It plays on gossip but it feels very authentic despite that. Diane Kruger makes for a very humanized and layered Marie Antoinette. A real treat. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review Gareth v A solid enough tale of the last few days of the French monarchy. It's beautifully shot and starts of promisingly enough but does trail into the soap opera territory as it proceeds. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/17/23 Full Review s r Could have been more, but it succeeded in its goal to present a different perspective of the French Revolution from the inside of Versailles from a servant's point of view. It showed us their struggles in comparison to the royalty. However, the poetic license distracted and undermined the story. I saw it for my wife since she was fascinated with Antoinette. It was on Tubi. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautifully shot but just doesn't get the empathy for either the touching Seydoux navigating personal politics for survival or spoiled Queen and Duchess Kruger and Ledoyen Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review lars p "Les Adieux à la reine" is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, with an excellent Léa Seydoux. A study how the power of the old regime and relationships fall apart. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Did not enjoy this. Felt no love between the characters. A poorly excuted high school play. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
