Mad C Nothing original not even plot. Acting all together was decent enough. The script was a mess. Plenty of ideas never flushed out or explored. They don't confuse you or act as a misdirection but as an excuse to carry the vehicle and waste time. So this whole film has no scares. Nor does it make you feel uneasy in anyway. The plot points have all been seen before and done better. The cinematography was trying to hard to be artsy. It didn't add any atmosphere. They might have been going for isolation, this would make one storylines have cause. Its as if the director saw something in another film and thought "hey ill do that too". Then pieced together a script and tricks from multiple films to make the whole movie. it could be said these are all homages, but the entire film is a tribute, to multiple films, with nothing original to say? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Kathy L Reading the critic's reviews you might think this movie has merit. Boo! While the setting is horror worthy, with creepy woods and basement stairs, the theme never makes sense. Is it futuristic? Is it electronic sounds, techno-reality? You'll never know! Where the Hell are the flies anyway? Oh yeah, a few flies. There is no character development or historical context. One star for setting and one for the old mysterious neighbor lady. Her performance made it kind of worth it. Leslie Felperin Guardian The vagueness around the supernatural elements is intriguing but Edwards can’t quite kick the whole thing up a notch to make the material really thematically rich, and relies too much on sonically driven jump scares. Rated: 2/5 Apr 5, 2022 Full Review Luke Spafford Starburst The film takes nearly all the tropes of horror cinema and at times eschews them, gentle caressing them or flipping them on their head. There are not one, but two ridiculously creepy moments this well-versed writer has never seen on screen before. Rated: 5/5 Apr 11, 2022 Full Review Luke Y. Thompson Films Gone Wild Like true night terrors, it never lets the audience get a handle on exactly what the threat is, and therefore, how it can possibly be survived. Mar 7, 2022 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film The confusion of incident and memory add to the sense of creepiness and disorientation which Tetlow's performance and the heightened visual style create. Rated: 4/5 Jan 22, 2022 Full Review Anton Bitel Dirty Movies Here a little boy's incomprehension of his own experience translates into unsettling, ultimately moving horror, even as the dead wreak their complicated, karmic revenge from beyond, making everyone pay the toll of tragic trauma.
