kat s 01/13/2025 Cant say I would recommend. What could have been an interesting doc turned into a "I am a white knight" Spencer Matthews. I loved how the Sherpas risked their lives to search for a needle in a haystack (my favorite part being when Spencer was being shown pictures of the top of Everest and exclaimed how big it was-like what did you think Everest was exactly? Was any prior research done?) and then spends most of the doc barking at them through a walkie talkie. Like they have time to chat with him at 8000m. Or when he just happens to call his wife and she is in full hair and makeup. After the sherpas bring the lost sherpa back down to base camp-Spencer is off with the body to the family...like he has accomplished some grand deed himself. The whole thing was so pretentious. If you want to see a touching doc about climbing-try Torn about the climber Alex Lowe. See more MARGARET S 04/12/2024 It was an amazing movie. Not sure about all the comments about privilege. The movie was about grief and how we deal with losing a family member. Highly recommended. Clearly you need to be wealthy to search for a body on Everest. That is a given, if you can look past that obvious part you will be treated to a moving search for the body but mostly for the part of you that was taken with the death of the one you loved. It is very helpful to watch the youtube video called "Finding Michael Matthews-Everest Lost in the death zone" to get the full back story around this expedition. The film is about himself and publicity for his family. He stayed in a safe place in the phone whilst others risked their lives... He might as well stayed in the UK at home.
