Peter Keough Boston Globe The layering of painting, stagecraft, music, dance, and film does justice to the subject. Rated: 3.5/4 Nov 28, 2014 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times You don't have to speak the language to get drawn into the captivating performances - or set your toes tapping. Nov 26, 2014 Full Review Nicolas Rapold New York Times Mr. Saura's museum of dance lacks subtitles or lengthy explanations. This keeps the visuals fluid and intact, but even unambiguous flamenco could use some translation of lyrics. Nov 20, 2014 Full Review Adolfo C. Martinez La Nación (Argentina) With a camera that shows every movement of the artists, the films transforms itself into a parade of the most pure and authentic Andalusian art. [Full review in Spanish] Jun 22, 2016 Full Review Carlos Boyero El Pais (Spain) The visual aesthetic is powerful, with a visual language that's strong and elegant. Audience Member Impressive cinematography and sound. Gives the viewer a broad view of Flamenco. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Horrible bore. Just one dance after another without dialogue, and the passionate songs come without subtitles so we don't understand what the passionate singer is singing about. Avoid this turkey. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This is not really a movie more like a series of music videos, some with dancing performances, some without. If you like flamenco, this is for you. Be prepared though, while the first few songs will introduce you rather lightly to the theme, you will soon come to the point where you can find out how far your love to flamenco goes - a journey well worth it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe if I actually could dance the Flamenco, I would be able to appreciate it more. Dull to a non dancer. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member very beautiful...makes me realize that my trip to Spain was incomplete. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member as a performance film it's a masterpiece Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
