Trevor P One of my favourite Astaire Rogers films with, in my opinion, the very best songs thanks to the superbly talented Irving Berlin. Plenty of excellent dance routines as usual especially Let's Face The Music And Dance, a funny script plus Ginger never looked better! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review Steve D Lets face it you are here for the dancing and nothing else. The dancing delivers. Dan Callahan Slant Magazine Burdened with a dull plot but blessed with a rousing Irving Berlin score. Rated: 3/4 Aug 1, 2005 Full Review Meyer Levin (Patterson Murphy) Esquire Magazine The inspiration for this was the thought that Fred Astaire ought to be shown in something besides tails sometime, so why not a naval jumper-suit? The pants have a nice flare. Irving Berlin had the rest of the inspiration. Apr 17, 2020 Full Review Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine The world's greatest stepping pair surpass themselves as usual. Oct 2, 2019 Full Review Graham Greene The Spectator It needs an effort of the mind to remember that Mr. Fred Astaire was not invented by a film director and drawn by a film draughtsman. He is the nearest we are ever likely to get to a human Mickey [Mouse]. Jun 2, 2018 Full Review Josh Larsen LarsenOnFilm ...the standout numbers here, ironically, are the solo ones. Rated: 3/4 Apr 30, 2016 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Though not one of Astaire-Rogers strongest musicals, the musical is still enjoyable despite its rather bland plot.
