Brian Costello Common Sense Media Dark Italian drama has some violence, cursing. Rated: 3/5 May 23, 2018 Full Review Joe Reid Decider There's more verve and energy to Forgive Us Our Debts than I was expecting by yet another movie about a man in financial distress falling into a life of crime... There are better movies, but you could do a lot worse. May 8, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This noir gem has received poor reviews from others here, as it is likely those reviewers are of the single-digit IQ bro types that would confuse the term 'cerebral' with Frosted Flakes and other such items associated with junk food breakfasts. This is a dark comedy that has a none too subtle meditation on mortality. This is most obvious in the opening sequence, where we see one of the protagonists, a bearded Mephistophilian debt collector and family man, going for his morning run in a cemetery. This is not cheesy grinned all-Californian sunshine fare. It's cynical, European, and takes place in Rome in Winter, and it has a macabre soundtrack to boot too. Classical baroque pieces play alongside Francoise Hardy's 'Nausea' and Cop Shoot Cop's 'Everybody Loves You (When You're Dead). I loved this film. If you are found of noir visuals a la 'In Bruges', ignore the bad reviews posted by the dim and dull, and give this a watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
