Framing Britney Spears persuasively charted how she got to that point, with reminders of how misogynistic and creepy celebrity culture could be in the Nineties and Noughties. Go to Full Review

The best aspects of ‘Framing Britney Spears’ are implicit while the least effective parts are explicit. And in the absence of a direct commentary from Spears, Stark surely could have used more evenhanded and considerate interview subjects. Go to Full Review

Haley C @Haley358 7h Through this documentary I found it very insightful to learn about Britney and everything that was going on with her father. When her father got legal conservatorship, which is full control of her life and her finances, she was trapped. The amount of fans who supported Britney to get out of this was truly inspirational. The fans' loving ways of advocating during the court rulings was my favorite part of the documentary and to understand the big picture of what was going on at the time. I give this documentary a five star rating because it has been my favorite I have watched ever, I enjoy the pacing of the story, I enjoy the different perspectives of the situation, and I am a fan of Britney Spears. See more Lovely C @Lovely_corderoy 1d Framing Britney Spears is a great documentary about the iconic pop star that everyone knows. It uncovers the darker parts of her life that majority of people might not know. It goes from her early childhood all the way through the recent lawsuits and her career and family problems. I really liked this film, and I think that even someone who isn't a fan of her music could be interested in it. See more Ashley S @sahagun 1d This documentary was meaningful to me because it revealed how deeply the media and society failed Britney Spears during some of the most vulnerable moments of her life. I had always known about her conservatorship, but I didn’t realize how much of her story had been controlled, twisted, or hidden from the public. The film showed how sexism, tabloid culture, and fame all worked together to silence her and strip away her autonomy. Watching it made me rethink how easily the public judges women without knowing the truth behind their struggles. See more Scarlett C @scarlettcurrier 2d This film is extremely effective in sharing Britney Spears' struggles in the spotlight while showing that she is a real person. The film details how Britney was being controlled in her most vulnerable moments, and it really gives the viewer a sense of empathy for her mental health circumstances. The story also shows how social media really can change how we view celebrities, as a simple hashtag or joke that we may view as lighthearted, may affect a person who is struggling. The film allows you to understand Britney's real story beyond what was shown to the public. See more Hailey M @hmanzo 2d I would recommend this film to anyone with an interest in Britney Spears, or about how media distorts reality!! This film highlighted the fact that media is extremely powerful both for the bad (such as taking unconsented photos of Britney Spears), but also in the good, (such as bringing attention to the injustice of being locked up). Providing a voice for Spears during this time of her life was motivating to watch, especially seeing her released. This film did have some ethical concerns about protecting her privacy, but was overall a good watch, and I enjoyed it. See more Janesse V Dec 13 I've heard about Britney Spears but never knew who she truly was. This film showed us her journey of becoming a star, something that she was born to be. It was truly heartbreaking to see the media portray her as someone who she's not. Especially being in custody under her father. Which was upsetting, she worked hard to get to where she is now. I hope the best for her. Overall, great watch. See more Read all reviews
