A hard-hitting, ultimately tragic tale of the struggle for identity among Kurdish emigres in urban Germany. Go to Full Review

Arslen has a sharp eye for telling detail and draws memorable performances from his inexperienced cast in a bitter demonstration of how for too many people life is truly nasty, brutish and short. Go to Full Review

At the start of Yilmaz Arslan's somber drama, it's hard to understand why the young narrator sounds so embittered. By the end, his sadness is devastatingly clear. Go to Full Review

Kurds feuding with Turks in the streets of Germany. Reminiscent of "Los Olvidados" or "Pixote". Grim but rewarding. Go to Full Review

Never seen such a a Brutal Neo Realism Film but im curious on a Urban African Film Festival i visit soon!!! Cinematography, Soundtrack & Acting are Perfect!!! See more 11/03/2010 Damn good film about camaraderie, loyalty to one's way of life, comeuppance, and the uselessness of division among assimilating cultures. It's on the Kurdish and Turkish disputes, but still retains relevance for any two distinct cultures. The protagonist and his daily adversity is all too harsh, topped with the supervision of a minor who's been exposed to the same raw climate. Once the eye-for-an-eye theme picks up some momentum, it's a dangerous foregone conclusion. See more 01/30/2010 Fratricide adds unique layers to a familiar country bumpkin-in-the-big city story. Think "Midnight Cowboy" involving two Kurdish youths sticking together to survive an uncaring German city and a long-standing conflict with the Turks. Throw-in some guttural images of piss, spit, blood and guts. "Kite Runner" this ain't. See more 01/10/2010 Raw. Really depressing story. I am starting to wonder is life for Kurdish and Turkish immigrants in Germany this horrible? Is this the reality?! See more 12/22/2009 (*** 1/2): Thumbs Up Well-acted and written.
