Freakier Friday

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Freakier Friday doesn't reinvent the original's story so much as it swaps the formula around for a frothy good time, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan easily slipping back into roles that fit them like mixed-and-matched gloves.

Guy Lodge Observer (UK) Oct 7
Including assorted TV spin-offs, this belated sequel to the popular 2003 remake of Freaky Friday is the studio’s seventh variation on the mother-daughter body-swap tale, and there’s not a lot of juice left in the idea. Go to Full Review

I went in with no expectations and came out pleasantly surprised. Go to Full Review

It's great seeing Lohan back on screen, and she's clearly having a blast with Curtis, but this is so clearly the reheated leftovers of something much better. Go to Full Review
Hannah Brown Jerusalem Post Nov 18
Predictably, Curtis steals the show, as she did in the 2003 film, and the scenes where she is reunited with Jake (Chad Michael Murray), the heartthrob who fell for her in the first movie, are the highlight. Go to Full Review

The film is sweet and kind, choosing a great deal of empathy that breaks through even the more repetitive generational-anchored jokes, leaving behind a warmth that we can all use right now. Go to Full Review

Edith 1d Loved it!!! Cute funny movie. See more Google Dec 7 Doodoo. Bad writing. Cringe. See more Lisa Nov 25 still prefer the original but this was really good See more Lori Nov 22 Saw it multiple times. Hilarious and good story. See more Morgan P Nov 17 The fashion, the color, and the humor! See more Garrett Nov 15 If you are nostalgic for the old film you will love this movie. Having seen only the first one recently, I felt this was a pretty good follow-up. Vanessa Bayer was hilarious and Manny Jacinto really shines. It's great to see Lindsay Lohan back, and the chemistry she had with Jaimie Lee Curtis in the first film is just as good. Where this movie falters is that it is essentially the first film all over again, except with four people involved. I would have loved to see a more jumbled-up body switching. One of the girls swaps with her grandma, and the other girl swaps with the other young girl. Make it a whole convoluted mess. Other then that i have no complaints! See more Read all reviews
