Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Your parents are probably in this movie. Steel yourself for that. Apr 5, 2024 Full Review Jose Solís Common Sense Media More than a documentary about a party, this is a powerful film about the different worlds inhabited by Black and White people in the United States, and how slow progress and equity continue to move. Mar 26, 2024 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Celebratory nostalgia seems to be the primary motivation behind this breezy documentary. It delivers on that level, without providing much deeper insight or perspective. Mar 23, 2024 Full Review Johnny Loftus Decider Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told is driven by nostalgia, but the sentiment takes different forms depending on the age and experience of who’s speaking. Mar 22, 2024 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This documentary really captured how the impact that hip hop had on the culture...I really enjoyed this and how it was able to explain how important these events were to the community. Rated: 4/5 Mar 15, 2024 Full Review Catalina Combs Black Girl Nerds While I was intrigued at first, 'Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told' didn’t share anything that would make me happy about learning about this event. Audience Member I was looking forward to watching this because I remember the Freaking era. Chile, 15 minutes in I was bored and my mind kept wandering off. I finished it out of support but I had to force myself to finish it. There was nothing new or interesting about the stories told. Overall it was really a snooze fest. After 20 minutes, I found myself scrolling through Instagram. Definitely lost my attention! Sadly, this is what you play when you need the TV on to fall asleep.
