Critics Consensus

Technically proficient yet creatively moribund, Free Birds begs unfortunate comparisons with the dim-witted fowl that inspired it.

Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Anyone who's seen Chicken Run will wonder why they're not enjoying a well-constructed Aardman animation rather than attempting to make sense of this incoherent transatlantic trifle. Rated: 2/5 Dec 1, 2013 Full Review Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard Ultimately embarrassing and even offensive but has an offbeat premise, some neat characters and plenty of guffaw-worthy gags. Rated: 2/5 Nov 29, 2013 Full Review Sophie Monks Kaufman Little White Lies Surely Owen Wilson can do a lot better than a slipshod animation about time travelling turkeys? Rated: 2/5 Nov 29, 2013 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Feels average, like a flightless bird trying to soar with the Pixars of the genre. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See It's nice to get a Thanksgiving movie that doesn't revolve around tedious family drama. Though you may wind up having in uncomfortable conversation with your kids about exactly where your holiday meal comes from. Rated: B- Jul 8, 2020 Full Review Kathi Maio The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction Much can be overlooked if such a movie is rollicking good fun. But Free Birds isn't even that. That's right, I'm going to say it. It's a turkey-and not one of the time-traveling freedom-fighter species, either. Mar 11, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Gianni D Truly, the greatest movie ever made Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/17/24 Full Review Hazel F It was a interesting storyline, wouldn't depend on it for thanksgiving history though, animation was questionable Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/09/24 Full Review Lincoln D Creative is probably the only pro to this film, the rest, cons in this silly, stupid, animated film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review Braydon C this is the best movie where they go back to the first thanksgiving to get turkey's off the menu.. that's right this is the best movie where they go back in time to the first thanksgiving to get turkey's off the menu Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Brian M Before watching this movie I was at a rock bottom point in my life. I lost my entire family to a car crash, I was addicted to meth, and I was wanted in 30 states. That day I went to the movies to see "Free Birds" I was planning on killing myself that day. After watching this movie I got an entirely new outlook on life as a whole. I walked out of that theater and immediately was awarded 3 trillion dollars by Elon Musk. Then I went home and my entire family was there again. My addiction was no more. This movie truly changed my life and I believe it can change yours too. Honestly wouldn't watch again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review alan g One of the worst animated movies ever. I couldn't watch it more than a few minutes without wanting to vomit. Any movie with Puke Wilson in it sucks. He should be bannned from making movies. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
