Audience Member It's well done, well acted but it didn't leave much of a lasting impression! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Splicing Western and Eastern cinematic tropes into a grey gangster-tale that's quintessentially Korean, Kwak Kyung-Taek's acclaimed drama is a contrived yet compelling exploration of companionship, loyalty and coming-of-age philosophy. Kyung-Taek handles his relationships, violence and conflicts gently with a sweet, yet sombre touch and chiseled balance, yet it isn't always enough to shroud the script's didactic dialogue and selective character focus, both of which make for a tough and taxing watch. In all, it's refreshingly unpredictable and inharmoniously flawed; not unalike the nuanced characters it portrays. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member This coming of age gangster flick shows us the lives of four childhood friends. Two go to college while the other two become rival gangsters, and when their paths cross again things become tense and violent. The movie has core themes of friendship and loyalty, but at times its overlong and a bit melodramatic. It sports decent performances and is a not too shabby entry in the gangster movie genre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review waleed a very good movie with a great story that gets you emotionally invested in the characters. there seems to be a little lost in translation but still very interesting and different (2 views) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member good crime drama and korean twist on sergio leone's 'once upon a time in america' Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably my favorite movie ever. It provides a storyline, and soundtrack at a high level not usually seen. It is a movie about a heartfelt childhood friendship who goes awry when the group grows up and gets to adult life. Few movies provide the sincere feeling and heartache the friends show throughout the movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
