J. Kelly Nestruck Globe and Mail The former theatre critic in me had to agree with the consensus that Frozen on stage mainly pads out the story of princesses Anna and Elsa, rather than expands on it. But it was fun to watch a twist on a familiar favourite. Tyler T I’m a MASSIVE Frozen fan and this was absolutely spectacular! I thought the writing was absolutely brilliant and the pacing and emotion and characters all were so well done! The cast was also phenomenal! I was mad that they cut part of “What do you know about Love?” And that they cut the entirety of “True Love” which is one of my favorite songs in the whole show, but other than that, no complaints! We watched the dress transformation three times before continuing on to act two 😂❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/08/25 Full Review Denne L Tudo que precisava ser, um cópia do filme Frozen (2013), mas que conseguisse adaptar Spoiler: Conseguiram 🌟 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/27/25 Full Review Russell H They did a great job. My daughter loved it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/25 Full Review RJ T. This broadway adaptation was OK, but the camera work felt like amateurs were doing it at times. The singing wasn’t the best in the world, but it was decent. Some of the props were amazing (like Olaf), and some were horrible in my opinion (like Sven). There were lots of new songs, most of them just felt like they were squeezed into the show, but some of them felt like they should’ve been in the original movie. The lighting was phenomenal, but that isn’t what makes a Broadway production. Overall, this broadway show on Disney+ was extremely middle of the ground, which is why I rated it being not recommendable. The original movie was much better. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/25 Full Review Gord F As a father of two young girls who have watched Frozen 1 and 2 more times than they’ve watched anything else, I went into Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical with high hopes. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for those hopes to melt away. The show tries to be more than the movie, but in the process, it becomes a lot less. Unnecessary songs and drawn-out dance numbers bloat the story without adding any emotional weight. Rather than enriching the narrative, these scenes feel like filler—clearly added to hit a two-hour runtime. We watched it on Disney+, and even my daughters—who normally sing along to every word—looked confused and disappointed. Key story beats were out of sync or overly reimagined. The buildup to Elsa’s “Let It Go,” Anna’s journey, and Olaf’s introduction were all rearranged, which only caused more confusion than excitement. To be fair, there are moments of magic. Elsa’s quick-change during “Let It Go” is a stunning effect, and some of the set designs are genuinely impressive. But those highlights are too few and far between to redeem the overall experience. What really hurt the most was how far the musical strayed from what made the original film special. Just recently, we saw The Lion King here in Toronto, and that show proved how a Broadway adaptation can expand on a beloved story while still respecting its roots. Yes, it added new songs and scenes—but it followed the heart of the movie, and the result was fantastic. Frozen missed that memo. If you're hoping to relive the magic of the movie with your kids, you're better off sticking with the original animated version. This Broadway adaptation might look sparkly on the outside, but under the surface, it's a slushy mess. Recommendation: Watch at your own risk. If you're curious, it’s worth a quick look on Disney+—just don’t be surprised if you’re reaching for the remote before the final curtain. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/23/25 Full Review Ariel S ❄️Frozen: The Broadway Musical is pure magic! Stunning visuals, powerhouse vocals, and all the heart of the original film—plus new songs that soar. A must-see for Disney fans and theater lovers alike. Let it go & get your tickets! 🎭✨ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/25 Full Review Read all reviews
