Critics Consensus

Too straight-faced to have as much fun with its juicy premise as it could, G20 is more pedestrian than presidential but does have a commanding lead in Viola Davis.

Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Viola Davis is the dealmaker. Sure, she brings an extra dimension of emotional truth and groundedness to the character, but it’s not just that. It’s also what Sutton symbolises. Rated: 3/5 Apr 22, 2025 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Yep, we’re deep into fantasy territory with this preposterous, dumb-as-rocks action picture. Redeeming it slightly is the consistently impressive Viola Davis, Rated: 3/5 Apr 15, 2025 Full Review Ben Travis Empire Magazine Not exactly a world leader in the action movie stakes – but entertaining enough, particularly thanks to Viola Davis.  Rated: 3/5 Apr 15, 2025 Full Review Giana Levy Refinery29 Through each role, Davis reminds audiences—especially Black women of the power of our limitless being and the brilliance that unfolds when we fully step into it. May 7, 2025 Full Review James Kendrick Q Network Film Desk its debt to the Die Hard School of Spatially Contained Action Heroics is unavoidable, which makes it at times feel overly derivative Rated: 2.5/4 May 6, 2025 Full Review Jake Tropila In Review Online G20 is ultimately a feeble motion picture, delivering little in the way of thrills as it’s instead content to recycle familiar action beats from far superior films. Nikki D Just watched this with my daughter after Mother’s Day Brunch and this movie was Amazing! Gotta be those hating on what could have been a black female presidency. Yeah it was a little predictable but the cast and acting was solid and there was action throughout. Definitely recommend! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review Cornell D From the very first scene, I was hooked. The storyline was fast-paced and filled with suspense, twists, and just the right amount of emotional depth. It struck a great balance between action and drama, making every moment feel important. What really stood out was the casting—each actor felt perfectly chosen for their role, and the chemistry between the characters made the high-stakes plot even more compelling. You could feel the tension in every scene, and the performances only amplified it. I also appreciated how relevant and thought-provoking the plot was, especially given today’s global climate. G20 isn’t just entertaining—it makes you think. I’d absolutely watch it again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys smart, intense thrillers. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review Audience Member Dont believe the negative reviews. The casting was perfect, and the storyline kept me hooked from beginning to end. It was intense, smart, and incredibly well-acted. I’d definitely watch it again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review David R Not Bad and that's mainly thanks to Viola Davis but still disappointed in the predictable story/ writing. Predicted 4 things after the title reveal and it was all captured by the end Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review Valentina Z Raramente ho visto un film d’azione peggiore di questo, che sarà costato tra l’altro milioni.
