This film tells the true story of Gabriela Brimmer (Rachel Levin), whose cerebral palsy left her completely paralyzed from birth. At first thought to be comatose by her doctors, with the help of her compassionate maid, Florencia (Norma Aleandro), Brimmer learns to use her one functional limb -- her left foot -- to communicate. From there begins an emotional and physical journey towards self-actualization that ultimately defines Brimmer as a writer, an artist and an activist.

steve d 07/12/2020 Really effective and beautifully acted. See more 08/16/2009 Norma makes the movie. See more 04/20/2009 I love this movie. Wonderful acting by everyone in the cast. See more 02/28/2009 Very good film about a woman who has cerebral palsy and pretty much can only communicate with her left foot (sound familiar?). But it's pretty much a whole different approach to My Left Foot (and preceeded it). The acting is excellent all around, Liv Ullmann and Robert Loggia are great as Gaby's parents, Norm Aleandro (in her Oscar nominated performance) is perfect as Gaby's nanny and the woman who is around her pretty much her whole life, and Rachel Levin is amazing at the title characters (especially considered she isn't handicapped in real life). I really loved the relationship with Gaby to the other characters, especially to Lawrence Monoson (who was also incredible and non handicapped) as her boyfriend. I felt the film lost some of its power after the boyfriend left. But it's still a very good film and I'm glad I caught it. See more 02/09/2009 Que berriondera de historia! Gaby una mujer real que supo luchar contra las adversidades y de que forma See more 05/18/2008 Every time Mandoki placed a foot outside Mexican territory, he made something terrible. He had to get back in order to redeem himself. A true story does not mean it will automatically become a good film and win hearts. What a bad stain for Liv Ullman! 53/100 See more Read all reviews
