The film entire isn't nearly as much fun as it should be, but for those with a cheeky fondness for city-scale monster mashes, there are some fleeting pleasures. Go to Full Review

It is the end of an era, and it is ending on the proverbial whimper. Go to Full Review

A long, directionless, life-stealing amble through a plot that just never, ever starts to make sense. Go to Full Review

Justin T Apr 22 The space aliens are back but it’s not as camp and silly as Gamera vs. Guiron (1969). Sadly this film is quite slow and boring although not the worst of the franchise but probably the second worst. The biggest problem was that they forgot to smash the city, maybe the models cost too much to smash them. The new kaiju is pretty cool, maybe my second favourite after Guiron. The human story is fairly routine. There is one really funny moment though where Gamera plays Zigra’s spine plates like a xylophone. Worth watching for completionists only. Riff rating: 🐢🐢🐢 See more 02/07/2021 A moon base is destroyed by a spaceship with a cluster of gumballs on its head. Later, at Sea World, dolphins are dying mysteriously. Zigra kidnaps two men and two children (one of whom is a Coke addict - Coca Cola that is) and starts causing earthquakes. The two six-year olds somehow outwit Zigra and help their incapacitated fathers escape. The Zigra Woman, who can use her eyes to put people into comas, then chases them all over Sea World like an extended Benny Hill skit. Somewhere in this movie Gamera finally shows up, fights Zigra, who turns into a giant swordfish. That's not my review, that's the Letterboxd plot synopsis. Need I say more? See more 02/03/2017 The last (main) Gamera film (the 1980 doesn't count to me) Gamera vs Zigra is bad, but is a very entertaining kaiju flick! See more 01/09/2016 They stopped caring about whether they should utilise their budget or not. Gamera's fight barely lasted 5 minutes. The story was essentially the same as previous instalment: Annoying kid doing stupid things and got himself into trouble, suddenly reporters want to know what's up, kid being smarter than every single adult in Japan, Gamera fights and credit roll. It went all scooby-doo this time, at least laughable. See more Read all reviews
