Audience Member This movie does not just address the use of psychomarmaceuticals in children but in adults with developed brains as well- not at all what i expected from the synopsis. It crosses the line from science to speculation in a very dangerous way. While I agree that psychopharmaceuticals are grossly overused and often misused in children, to exert causation (not just correlation) between psychiatric medications and homicide in people of all ages is just as unbacked by actual science as are the reasons the film attacks for their use in the first place. The film asserts that the criteria for diagnoses of conditions such as ADHD and BPD are merely anecdotal in nature- but this film is entirely anecdotal in it's analysis. There are most definitely some drugs whose use is far too great a risk in terms of suicidal ideation or behavior and these drugs should indeed be removed from the market and/or supervision of patients using said medications should be close and frequent. But to lump all medications together and label them as dangerous for both children AND adult is overly simplistic. Films like this deter people from seeking help- even if the help they require is indeed not medication but is rather talk-therapy based as opposed to somatic in nature. What are we doing to our future generation concern us all. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A nice investigation of the popularity of pharmaceuticals for children. Questions the system and governing bodies that approve the medications that have demonstrate serious side effects. Narration is quite dry sounding and makes the pace of the film slower- but the information is compelling. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Whoa....Ok, this was an EYE OPENER! And, it only really looks at the FDA....i wonder if the Canadian equivalent is the same? I kinda hope not. Although it really only looks at Ritalin and Prozac - it SHOULD open the eyes of - not only the PARENTS, but the kids as well who are placed in these "Mental Disorder" Categories....to examine the drug. The FDA is supposed to keep American's safe....yet, they cover up any kind of suicide, or any side effect for that matter - that makes the drug look "Bad" and "Unsafe". Well, i was on Effexor for a little over 5 years...and, i do remember there being a warning in BOLD CAPS that said "If you experience any suicidal thoughts, or things get worse....contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately". The movie is divided up into 3 parts....and, the first one looks at Ritalin, and the other 2 look at Prozac. They ALL look at the FDA's role - and, their "Cover ups" - because, let's face it....they're all lobbyists for the drug companies. These drugs were NEVER made for kids...yet, they're forced down their throats. NOT FOR THAT! And, even listening to what happened to OLDER people on Prozac....was tear shedding. I give this movie props for uncovering what they did....and, is probably one of the BEST documentaries you'll see about prescription drugs, SSRI's, etc. This is all FACT based, people! And, really....i would recommend this to parents AND people contemplating whether or not to go on an anti-depressant - or similar....and, not just the ones mentioned in this movie, as they ALL bring about the SAME warnings!
