Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review dave d At its best, Philippe Lesage's latest understands growing up and youthful relationships perfectly. At its worst it's an elongated and overindulgent mess. Somewhere in the middle the truth lies. I loved this til I hated it, but a redemptive (albeit seemingly from a different movie with no explanation) final twenty minutes leaves it in that take it or leave it range. Final Score: 5/10 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review richard r The movie was a bit interesting until the last 30 or so minutes. That should have been a short film on it's own, it had nothing to do with the other stories which were not really settled. Don't waste your time. The critics are insane as usual. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member i think that film is very exellent Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review mike m Most of the movie switches back and forth between two thinly related stories then you think it's over but it starts a totally new and from what I could unrelated one that really wasn't that interesting. I brings rest of film down Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Robert Abele Los Angeles Times "Genèse" concludes as a sober reminder that the young always feel intensely, but that the years between the crush that shines and the ardor that confounds are short ones, indeed. Oct 2, 2019 Full Review Abby Sun Film Comment Magazine The actual effect of watching Genesis is a bit like whiplash, as the film switches between three different storylines Rated: 7/10 Aug 29, 2019 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times The film may be maddening as a character study, and it could damage an ionizer with its air of self-importance, but its experiments in form and tone are highly original. Aug 22, 2019 Full Review Shawn Glinis Film Inquiry Genesis, a bifurcated narrative about young love that reveals itself, in the final 20 minutes, to be a triptych, is a steady, assured drama whose power has a strange occasion to sneak up on you. Nov 20, 2019 Full Review Zhuo-Ning Su The Film Stage An ode to that time in our lives when we still paid more attention to impulses than consequences. Rated: B+ Aug 22, 2019 Full Review Beatriz Martínez Fotogramas Lesage allows us to get to know these characters in a sensitive, fluid and ethereal way by enveloping us in its melancholic atmosphere.
