Quirky rather than hilarious and nowhere near as scary or gruesome as the play, this affectionate if overlong love letter to summer-stock theatre from director John Stimpson may be too light on laughs and carnage for some.

Probably more suited to thespians easily amused by the theatre aspect. I found the acting to be quite stagey. That may have been the intention but to me it makes the characters feel superficial. In which case I think it would have been better to lean in to the comedy a bit harder. Cinematography and set design were pretty good.

Sweet film about ordinary people dealing with extraordinary circumstances. Wonderful cast whose down-to-earth acting forgives any improbability in the plot. Loved it. Recommend skipping the trailer. As is often the case, it gives away the whole story. (was meant for the 2024 Ghostlight, not this one. Ugh)

A movie with a big heart and characters you care about. Something you don’t see much of these days. I love its theme of how life can reflect art and heal. Theatre 🎭 people will love this film.
