If you enjoy comedy, action, parody, anime and their live-action adaptation, and most of all, absurdness, look no further, "Gintama" was made for you. Go to Full Review

Despite visual charm... the movie still suffers from many of the pitfalls of a big-budget American superhero joint: self-conscious in-jokes, bloated runtime and bad CGI. Go to Full Review

While this chaotic mash-up of sci-fi and period drama aesthetics triggers a relentless sugar rush of visual stimuli, Gintama proves an exhausting and alienating experience for the uninitiated. Go to Full Review

This film adaptation does not take itself seriously, which is a good thing, but, on the other hand, it can come across as scattershot. Go to Full Review

Stephen C @bob25009 Nov 21 Funny in 02 hours, 11 minutes, and 15 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ages 14 and older!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Filmed throughout Japan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more 08/06/2022 One of the best live action comedy. Gintama by itself is a work that consolidates a more serious plot with a large portion of parodies and the film takes advantage of this very well, no matter if it's ''realistic'' or ''cosplay'' and that makes the dynamics very good and faithful. See more Richard T 10/06/2020 Not the advertised movie. See more 05/13/2020 The movie is a borefest, poorly acted, full of half assed anime references that aren't even funny. A movie for Weeaboos with awful sense of humor. See more 11/25/2019 It is incredibly sad to see this fantastic live action have such a terrible score. After reading the critic reviews I'm 100% convinced that none of them have seen any of the source material, be it anime or manga. The Gintama movie is one of the absolute best anime adaptations ever...if not the best. Characters act like their canon counterparts and almost look like them. My only complaint is Kondo. He should've been played by an actor who was significantly more built. Back to the critics taking issue with this movie, Gintama is a freaking parody comedy. It was NEVER supposed to be taken seriously. The fact that the movie had fun with the adaptation makes it all the more pure. Conclusion: This movie was absolutely wonderful, and critics should not spew words from their hairy gorilla butts. (Although that reference likely goes over their heads. 😏) See more 10/01/2019 I love this movie and the show and is a must watch See more Read all reviews
