      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Amanda Seyfried is magnetic in Red Riding Hood's starring role, but she's let down by her uninspired leading men and a painfully cliched script.

Texas 1 Wow, bad acting, the story was weak, the scenes look too clean. It was just bad all the way around. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Kandace B Deserves more credit. The music is awesome there's songs by groups like fever rey which are beautiful and creepy in a good way. There's an interesting take on the surroundings of the forest and scenic scenes that give a different feel than usual. The main actress actually did great and held her own and her chemistry with her lover was a vibe ✨️♡☆♡☆♡☆♡ of course there's a little bit of a soap opera and too clean sort of vibe sometimes. A bit of twilight thrown in. But if you look past that there's some cool entertainment music and sex appeal as well as an interesting take on the wolf. ♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡ I'm giving it B plus for good effort. I would give it an A had it been more realistic and believable as well as less polished and more raw. Had it dropped the soap opera perspective and had some better effects as well as more rough and old fashioned appeal it would have been much better. ♡ the music helped the film alot. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/08/23 Full Review Jacks D An underrated classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/28/23 Full Review Water M Lovet the movie. Just a simple entertainment which i really miss in films these days. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Shianne T absolutely breathe taking it reminds me a lot about the dangers of the world and how people may seem good but deep down they actually aren't Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/01/23 Full Review Shaheed B So they wanted a movie that was well grounded, dark and gritty but then ends if off in a way that was absolutely cringe especially that last line he said, made my eyes roll. I wish the movie was just simple, Red tried to walk to her grandmother through the woods while a Werewolf was out there. That only happens at the end of the movie and the pace is sped up making it literally five minutes. And it didn't really feel like a red riding hood movie, it felt more like a Van Helsing movie with the guy trying to hunt down the Werewolf. If you think about it, the Werewolf only attacked twice where you could actually see the Warewolf fully and rest was like a glimpse, or aftermath and even the end he was human so there wasn't much of a warewolf and only drama of a love triangle. The cinematography might have looked good, it was clear but majority of it took place in the town which was dull and boring the only time it really looked good was when she had her five minute walk through the woods. The sound was good, the dialogue was very clear but it was literally normal nothing cinematic at all. I found the entire movie to feel very isolating in that small town so the story didn't feel big and it felt like a movie you would get on Netflix, so unfortunately I can't give much of a higher rating, especially after that ending that makes everything feel like it didn't have a better conclusive ending. You know what, I would rather watch Hoodwinked to have a really good laugh than this. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Keith Uhlich Time Out Catherine Hardwicke moves from a modern romance (Twilight) to a Grimm classic with this daft retelling of the girl-in-the-crimson-cloak legend. Rated: 2/5 Aug 9, 2023 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator We like a turkey, don't we, children? We like a big fat turkey we can dance around, crowingly, don't we? Haven't we had a lot of fun doing that over the years? But this is such a dismal runt of a turkey. Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Scott Foundas Film Comment Magazine 'Beware the wolf,' warn Red Riding Hood's posters and television ads. Be even warier of this movie. Jun 28, 2013 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The production looks and plays like an expensive made-for-TV movie. Unless you’re a proud “Twihard” eager to find material that suits such popularized tastes, chances are you’ll find the experience a crushing bore.
