J J It was many years ago but I loved the Gobots Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Go-bots came first, so they have a special place in my heart. this movie wasn't half bad either. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member When I say this has aged poorly that's not to say it was any better back in the day. This was one of four features I can for sure say I saw at the grand ole Eric Theatre in Allentown, PA. The other three being: Wayne's World, Man's Best Friend, and Hellraiser Bloodlines. Three out of the four represent clearly, on film, what the experience of going to see a film at the Eric Theatre was like...which is to say awful. Anyways, I am pretty shocked that this feature even made it to the theatre. The animation is so poorly done that it would have been much better suited for the small screen. Like most animation of the day it gets annoying when the characters speak to each other they constantly repeat each others names. I laughed pretty hard when they tip toed around using the word transform so as possibly to avoid a lawsuit. All I can say is stay as far away from this as possible unless you are the most hardcore of animation nuts or in need of a good laugh. Time Out Save your pennies and watch the GoBots on TV instead. Mar 26, 2013 Full Review Michael H. Price Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com What the story lacks in depth it makes up for with exciting combat scenes, and with a tendency to make women characters more than stereotypes in constant need of rescuing. Mar 26, 2013 Full Review Charles Solomon Los Angeles Times Unfortunately, the story, script, voice actors and animation all prove less flexible than the toys, and the film never turns into entertainment. GoBots are more fun to play with than they are to watch.
