Logan D Some buffoons on a deep sea mission awaken Cthulhu. Run, don't, walk away from this film. I'm a sucker for movies based on Lovecraft or at least inspired by them (The Thing). I've watched some subpar ones just for the genre. This film was on my list. Steeds directed the mildly enjoyable but lower scale Haunting of the Tower of London. Here, he exceeds his grasp with a lackluster tale. The actors might've done a better job with a script worth hearing. And Cthulhu, a guy in a costume shaking his head so his tentacles have some erratic movement is so disappointing I couldn't even laugh at it. I wouldn't have finished this film except my vacation roomies wanted to finish in the hopes it would get better. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Sam W Yeah it's low budget. Yeah the effects are a bit clonky. But that said it's not bad at all. Nice to see British actors who can act, rather than the usual Hollywood cardboard. It's a bit like an 80 minute episode of Dr Who with Quatermass and Alien thrown in to support a Cthulhu Mythos story. Has a nice plot twist. I enjoyed it, and I'd recommend it. There are precious few decent Cthulhu Mythos films around and this is one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/06/24 Full Review Horror fan 4 From start to finish this movie is awful. The story and characters were terrible. The gods were laugh out loud bad. Stay away from it. Tim Treakle Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/24 Full Review John H This had some of the worst action and worst special effects I have ever seen, and that's saying a lot! I love HP Lovecraft, so watched the entire movie. Makenna Guyler was the bright spot in this movie, but I still can't recommend it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review F Joe G Didn't get very far into it. the monotonous music never stops. It plays through all of the dialogue and is frequently at a higher volume than the dialogue. Make the movie very hard to watch. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/08/24 Full Review John D This is low grade schlock. It's more entertaining that expansive schlock like Rings of Power or Disney Star Wars but it's quite bad. The film requires suspending common sense. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
