Godzilla X Mechagodzilla is not only a good Godzilla film, but a good film in general. The human scenes are not only interesting, but well acted and written. And, of course, the special effects are fantastic.

This is easily my favourite of the era so far. It has a more serious tone than the previous film. What a tonally inconsistent franchise! Also it seems to be yet another re-sequel starting the sequels again ignoring all previous films except the original 1954 one. I really enjoyed the human story and there was lots of monster action and city smashing. Godzilla looks the best he has ever looked, really great creature design. The special effects were good too, mostly. This is up there and nearly as good as Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995), Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994) and Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989).
