This is the best of the Millennium films, and may be the only one to establish a continuity. Go to Full Review

It's not the best Godzilla ever, but I still wish this version had taken off beyond one sequel. Go to Full Review

Set in 1999, a new Godzilla attacks Japan, causing heavy casualties, with pilot Akane Yashiro blamed for an accident and struggling with guilt. Scientists, led by Tokumitsu Yuhara, create MechaGodzilla (Kiryu) from the original Godzilla’s skeleton and DNA, with Akane as its pilot. The robot eventually goes out of control, its Godzilla DNA dominating, and destroys the city. Director Masaaki Tezuka delivers visually stunning scenes, improved CGI, and well-integrated models. While the human subplot is repetitive and slows the story, the spectacular battles, MechaGodzilla’s design, and the overall action make the film an entertaining and visually impressive addition to the franchise. See more Conor S Jun 9 I liked the story, kaijus, and characters, it’s a great film, I just wish there was more to the film because it’s 1 Hour and 28 Minutes but it’s still good. See more Laura B Jun 8 Godzilla X Mechagodzilla is not only a good Godzilla film, but a good film in general. The human scenes are not only interesting, but well acted and written. And, of course, the special effects are fantastic. See more Read all reviews
