Critics Consensus

Good Burger might please hardcore fans of the 1990s Nickelodeon TV series that launched leads Kenan and Kel to stardom, but for all others, it will likely prove a comedy that is neither satisfyingly rare nor well done.

Jami Bernard New York Daily News If you like your burger well-done, you're in for a disappointment. Rated: 1/4 Sep 8, 2015 Full Review Gene Seymour Los Angeles Times [Good Burger] will satisfy their audience's appetite for basic, messy silliness while leaving many grown-ups mildly bemused by the fuzzy obviousness of its humor, the gawky pacing of its sight gags and the second-handedness of its slapstick. Sep 8, 2015 Full Review Carol Buckland CNN.com Good Burger isn't USDA Choice by any means, but it's an enjoyable family flick with a nice message about friendship and responsibility. Sep 8, 2015 Full Review Peter Canavese Celluloid Dreams Cheap and pandering kiddie comedy featuring strictly lowest common denominator storytelling and humor, although sometimes so stupid it's funny. Rated: 1/4 Jul 26, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy It's easy to see why Good Burger garnered negative reviews (including mine) upon its original release and why it's a hallowed Gen Y fave today. Rated: 2/4 Jul 23, 2022 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Good Burger isn't a great comedy by any means but there are plenty of laughs to be found. Brandon A Bro this movie is so funny I love it and love how Ed was so funny in this movie like when he was trying to give Roxanne the chair until she fell on the ground and warned the people that her butt is fine. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Adir T Unless you grew up watching this movie, you probably won’t like it. Humor is stale and falls flat. Same tired jokes throughout the entire movie. It’s probably one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/03/25 Full Review Jack C This movie is life changing, the comedy will have you falling out of your seats with laughter and having to change your underwear, WELCOME TO GOOD BURGER HOME OF THE GOOD BURGER CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review SkyRo P I’m going to combine my thoughts on both reviews since they share a similar theme and outcome regarding the films in question: Good Burger and Good Burger 2. The films feature Keenan and Cal, who were two of the most entertaining duos to ever appear on television during my childhood. Their humor was clever, often reaching a level of absurdity that made it impossible not to be captivated by their antics and character arcs. It was only natural to see these two take their talents to the big screen. While the original Good Burger had its fair share of dry and corny humor, I found it genuinely hilarious. In contrast, the sequel felt lackluster and uninspired, leaving me bored. Upon rewatching the first film, I realized that my previous enjoyment was likely influenced by my youthful perspective—at its core, both movies are indeed filled with cheesy and silly humor. The iconic line, “Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?” has become a memorable part of cinematic history. However, the plots and storylines of both films are undeniably cliché. While they may elicit a chuckle here and there, the sequel falters even more than the original, feeling outdated and lacking the charm that made the first film enjoyable. It simply didn’t resonate with audiences, coming across as a flat, bizarre continuation of a story that didn’t need to be revisited. In the end, they can be amusing if you're in the mood for some lighthearted, silly entertainment. But if you’re seeking a truly great film experience, you might want to look elsewhere. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/05/25 Full Review Audience Member this film changed my life, you dont like good burger you go in the grinder Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review Kevin P An unevenly funny weird sh*tpost movie with good chemistry between Kenan & Kel.
