I have said before, we need a genre for senior adults. This film contains some very relevant references to sex, marriage, motherhood, family, abandonment, fear, shame, pleasure, and so much more. But the film is really about reciprocity and the miracle that happens when we trust ourselves to discover our potential no matter our age or profession or status in life. It offers a challenge to expose hidden judgement and beliefs based on limited experience and understanding. What a refreshing, affirming reminder that we never stop learning and growing if we are open minded and love ourselves enough to risk changing. Thank you for the charming and sincere performances as well as a brilliant and genuinely heartfelt script. YES YES YES!!!!!

A genuinely surprising and at times uncomfortable watch. Superb performances by Emma Thompson and Darryl McCormack negotiating the difficult terrain of a former teacher, recently widowed, paying a young male sex worker for afternoons of passion in a Norwich hotel. Sophie Hyde directs both actors sensitively and elicits nuanced and truthful characterisations. Courageous and comic: a gem.

Widowed middle aged woman (Thompson) seeks experience with sex worker. It could so easily have been tasteless but succeeds in examining human relationships with wit and subtlety. A perfect engaging script and impeccable acting. This is a little gem of a film.
